Accent of Women 17.07.2012

The Colombian Government is well known for it’s targetting of political activists. Out of 100,000 prisoners in the country, more than 9,000 of them are political prisoners. Liliany Obando was a trade unionist working for Fensuagro, Colombia’s largest Agricultural Workers’ Union. She was arrested and imprisoned in August 2008. Almost four years later, she was released because the Colombian Government wasn’t able to charge her with anything. I was fortunate enough to interview Liliany with the assistance of Lourdes Garcia, a solidarity activist in Melbourne.
